Took my ship to the service.
At the back, they replaced one anti-roll bar bush, and at the front, they changed a steering rack boot.
I got the oil and oil filter changed. They put in some Syn X 3000 oil—some kind of thicker 10w40, because of the leak…
They found the oil leak where the engine connected to the gearbox. Rear main seal, basically, I reckon. The garage quoted $1,200 to fix the bloody thing because you have to drop the gearbox and lift the engine, and over here, this kind of work is just ridiculously expensive. I told them thanks but no thanks, I'll keep leaking for now.
Turned out a girl working with my wife has an ex-boyfriend who runs his own workshop. Long story short, they told me I'd been ripped off with that quote and they'd do the whole lot for a fraction of the price.
Breakdown of the costs: Service + parts replaced + oil and filter change = $300 The upcoming rear main seal replacement will cost about $400
